Equally at home in Classical, Rock, Jazz, and Pop, Meghan McKown brings her own fresh approach to everything she sings. Her tone ranges from rich and soulful to clear and pristine. A versatile vocalist, she possesses outstanding control of her instrument.
Meghan received a B.A. in Jazz Studies from Michigan State University in 2004, where she studied with jazz vocalist, Sunny Wilkinson. While at MSU, Meghan performed with the legendary Jon Hendricks, as well as other great jazz talents including bassist Rodney Whitaker and trombonist/composer Wycliffe Gordan. In addition, she studied classical voice and piano for ten years, including two years of study with renowned soprano, Meredith Zara.
Since moving to Chicago in late 2005, Meghan McKown has done commercial work for SoundSlave recording studio, including "The Great Escape Jingle". She's also a member of the praised folk band, Dyed in the Wool and the highly acclaimed Brazilian band Rio Bamba. Meghan has taught music at a local Chicago program and has a growing studio of private voice students.
